Prerequisites

Minimum

  • Ability to use Secured Socket Layer (SSL/Port 443) websites. (e.g. Make an on-line payment)
  • High-speed connection to the Internet
  • End user must be able to run ActiveX scripts and controls on Internet Explorer. (Open the IE Browser and go to Tools->Internet Options->Security and click on the Custom Level button. Make sure that the "Download signed ActiveX controls, Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins, and Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting" settings are set for prompt or enable.)
  • Any anti-spyware programs running on the client machine must allow modification of the client's local hosts file.

Known Issues using Windows Terminal Services (Remote Desktop) with Clientless VPN (CVPN)

There are several requirements that must be met before trying to utilize the Windows Terminal Services (Remote Desktop) application to access your demo server.

  • Supported Windows operating systems are Windows 2000, XP or greater.
  • If running Windows XP with SP2, patch 884020 from Microsoft must be installed. You will not be able to run the WTS application without this patch!
  • Pop-up blockers must be disabled.
  • The user must have administrative rights on the machine that is being used to connect to SAS.
  • End user must be able to run ActiveX scripts and controls on Internet Explorer. (Open the IE Browser and go to Tools->Internet Options->Security and click on the Custom Level button. Make sure that the "Download signed ActiveX controls, Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins, and Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting" settings are set for prompt or enable.)
  • Other browsers may not be suppored.
  • Personal Web Services or any other web server or application using port 80 must be disabled.

Note: The CVPN gateway, the SAS Demo Portal, only supports connectivity to the SAS Demo Environment via Windows Terminal Services.


Prerequisites for performing the tests

This tool requires a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) to run. You can get the latest JRE here.

Browser security must be set to allow the applet to run as well. To change this setting in IE, go to the Internet Options-> Security tab, then press the Custom button and enable Java VM -> Java permissions by selecting the Enable radio button.
